Doug's birthday

Today is Doug's birthday and for all of you who know him well....he would rather refer to today as "just another day...." so it is not an easy task to get this guy excited about celebrating him for at least 24 hours, but we try our best!  He was very excited about his gift of new socks (exactly what he wanted and needed since the laundry lady keeps throwing out the ones with holes (-;  ), the cards from the kids are always his favorite and I managed to make him dinner and one of his favorite desserts (German chocolate cake - made with 100% LOVE)!!!
 Happy Birthday Doug...to the most amazing, handsome, loving, patient, kind, generous & humbling man that I have ever had the privilege of knowing. I love you and thank God for you each and every day and wish you the happiest of birthdays ~~Many more....XOXOXO

Ben's card reads "48...a true story of a Cairney legend...for the best dad EVER!!" and the other side said Happy birthday!!!

  Kate wrote a book for Doug filled with poems, stories, pictures of all his favorite things (the Wild baseball team, the Cubs, Iowa State, sports, popcorn, Mt. Dew, the huskers, Jesus, etc.,). The best page however was the one that said, "You have many names: KQ teacher, coach, Doug, brother, son, husband, nephew, etc., but I love DAD the most"  Happy Birthday Dad, I Love you!!

Happy Anniversary

13 years have gone by so quickly I can hardly believe it!! I am sure that if you asked Doug he would say that I haven't changed a bit, haven't irritated him EVER, and that every day together has been a complete dream!  (-;  With all kidding aside, each day of being married has been such a complete blessing....no, not every day are you 100% happy with decions made, words exchanged, etc., but being able to go to sleep each night, knowing that I have been given such an amazing man that God picked just for me, as my husband, is one I am truly thankful for! 

Winnie the Pooh seems to have said it best
~~~ "If you live to be a hundred, I want to live to be a hundred minus one day, so I would never have to live without you!"
