Abraham Lincoln's home
the living room & coat rack where he hung the famous "black top hat" each night when he walked in the door.

all of the grounds around the Lincoln home have been preserved to be in their "original state"
taking a little break from our walking tour
We left around 8 am and headed towards Springfield, IL for the first leg of our Summer vacation. It was a great day of traveling, and our hotel greeted us with warm chocolate chip cookies at check-in, so we were all happy about that! Since it was so nice out, we decided to spend our afternoon touring the Lincoln home national historic site and all of the grounds around that area and downtown. It was fascinating! Ben said it perfectly, when he said...." I can't believe it, we are in President Lincoln's house, he walked up this staircase each and every night to go to bed.......amazing!" I couldn't agree more..no wonder the motto in town is "Where history comes alive".
